Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.
The organization did not mention the player by name in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Claims Shared on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.
Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable
No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.
Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles
Rice missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
